• Weird problem, not experienced by other wordpress installs at same server.

No images are displaying on the site, nor in the media library. But they DO exist in the library (confirmed in FTP file manager, and also when I “edit image” in the media library it displays – so it DOES exist).

Audio files are not affected – appear in media library AND on site without problem. Same upload routine (via WP media library upload button).

Running WP 4.4.2 and Divi theme (as are other sites I’m using without this problem).

There are NO plugins activated at all.

Looked all round help & support forums, but can’t find this problem replicated or resolved. Can anyone help please?

    (site is https://laphooka.co.uk )

    Many thanks

  • Same problem except on the site I look after (www.lhch.org.uk) the images on the home page (which seem to come from the media library) are not displayed, but the versions which seem to be supplied by Photon (Jetpack plugin) are displayed.
If I turn off photon then no images are displayed at all.
Images are all in upload directory.
New images can be uploaded, they appear in the upload directory but are not visible in media library – though there is a missing image icon.
If I try to edit the file in media library the image is displayed and can be edited but it is not visible when I return to media library.

Solved my problem – seems to be a conflict with something in the Wordfence Security plugin. That was disabling all images but because I was using Photon within Jetack some of the images were still being displayed by Photon (unless I turned it off, of course). Disabling one option on Wordfence has restored full functionality.

Glad your problem is solved mattihch.

For anyone else who might help, my original problem is still unresolved – any solutions are VERY welcome!

    Thanks

Not sure if this helps, but I lifted the URL for the logo image in your header and it and the images from your slider on the homepage all point to the uploads folder (…uploads/2016/02) – if you try to view that folder (full path name) you can see MP3 files listed, but no images.
If you try to view any of the images directly (I tried the logo image) using the full URL you get a 403 ‘Forbidden’ error.

Given that you say there are zero plugins running that leaves me wondering whether the file permissions for the images are correct – if not that then something elsewhere is preventing those images being displayed.

    I hope that’s a helpful pointer…

Hi – thanks for getting back again here, I appreciate it.

I’ve had a look at what you’ve said … the permissions do all seem to be OK … they’re 0755 for folders and 0644 for files. I checked another WP site I’ve got on the same server and it matched those permissions … and that site works just fine.

It must be something else. You’re right, there are no plug-ins activated at all.

Anybody else reading this with any pointers or experience of this problem please?

    Many Thanks

Resolved now – needed to “allow direct access” in the Hotlink Protection element in cPanel.

    Glad its resolved.

If anyone else is still struggling with this, I was pulling my hair out for days trying to restore all my images after migrating my website. Used Search & Replace plugins and all sorts of other things.

I eventually found the issue in my default WP Media settings. It was pointing to my website URL rather than wp-content/uploads. I simply erased that so it returned to default settings and BOOM!

I have a website that has been up for several months and all of a sudden my logo is not showing, my social media icons are not showing, my “check availability” icon is not showing. Regular photos are showing just fine on the pages. I went to my media library and none are showing up in the media library. Here is the website URL: https://tropicsuntowersresort.com/
Any help will be very much appreciated!

    What WP media settings?

    Which option in WordFence?

Gosh… If only people with a solution actually provided some details lol.

Help!! Same problem here! Suddenly some pictures are not showing on my website. They appear as a broken thumbnail in the media library. I tried to re-upload the same images under a different name but they still appear as broken thumbnails… Its really strange because its a random selection of pictures that don’t work.

Anyone have a solution for this?

    Thanks a lot

    A

In order to solve this problem I had to send the issue to my IT guy. It turned out to be a security issue on the site. Good Luck!
