Images not displaying on Apple News

    Hi, Im using the Apple News WordPress plugin. My posts are automatically publish to Apple News. The problem is that the images on my WordPress posts are not showing on Apple News. I remember seeing a error saying that there was something wrong with “img” or something about not being supported. I don’t remember the exact error message since it only showed once but it said for sure something about the “img” tag.
    I know the “img” has to do with images. I went to the Apple Settings in WordPress and selected “YES” for “Use remote images” under Image settings and nothing. Here’s the story on my website with images: https://www.jweekly.com/2018/04/05/now-79-shes-honoring-french-family-saved-wwii/

    Another issue is that posts that I’ve scheduled are publish to Apple News successfully. But if I try to publish posts that I had already publish on WordPress, I get the notification that it was published to Apple News successful and if I log in to my Apple News Publisher, I see that the story was publish as well. But those stories never show up in the Apple News app?

    FYI, I contacted Apple and they tell me they don’t provide any support for this WordPress plugin.

    I just saw the image and took a screenshot but it looks like I can’t place images here or attached them.
    But the error message says:

    The following components are unsupported by Apple News and were removed:
    img
    figcaption
    figure

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Looking at https://www.jweekly.com/2018/04/05/now-79-shes-honoring-french-family-saved-wwii/, I see that your images do not have a src attribute, which is mandatory for the <img> element. Since the plugin is looking for a src attribute but doesn’t find one, the images are not being sent to Apple News and instead you’re seeing those errors. Please include a src attribute and your issue should resolve. Hope this helps!

    Hi, I see what you mean but WordPress uses by default the attribute “srcset” for responsive images and it seems it removes the standard “src” atttribute.
    How do I included a “src” attribute? Im using WordPress 4.9.5

    @kevinfodness Hi Kevin, I realized I never reply back to you but Im running 1.4.2 and Im still having the problem. I will look more into the “src” attribute problem @evansamy suggested.
    If you know of any other solutions please let me know.
