Images Not Displaying

    I recently came across a problem on a site I’ve been working on. The site was launched about 3 weeks ago and all was fine, there is a slider on the homepage with 3 images and some other images in rows/columns on the homepage.

    I went to check something on the site today and noticed the slider images were not displaying… I logged into the dashboard and saw the images in the Library were not being displayed, but the only images not showing up on the website were the slider images.

    I tried to upload one of the slider images but got a message – ‘failed to upload‘. So I checked the folder permissions and they were set to 755 on the Uploads folder. I changed these to 777 and was then able to upload one of the slider images, after I uploaded it I checked the homepage and all images were back in the slider.

    I changed the permissions back to 755 and they are still there now.

    Any idea why this happened? No one has login details only me.

  • I’m one of a number of people with this problem. Some have succeeded in solving it by disabling plugins, but that just gave me no dashboard at all.

    Would it be possible to tell me in words of one syllable how to (a) check folder permissions and (b) change the uploads folder?
