    Hi,

I just got the the Pro version of the plugin, and I have now optimized every image, and lots of photos got reduced by 50-60%, which is great! To me it seems to run faster, and at Pingdom I finally get a good rating (83/100) and a loading time of less than 3 seconds. But at every other speedtest site it loads at 8-10 seconds, and the images seem to be the main culprits. Every site say I need to compress images, but I already have. Google Speedtest gives me a horrible rating of 1/100 (8/100 for mobile), mainly because of the images, which they say can be reduced by 90%(!). At Webpagetest.com it took over 13 seconds to load my site, and, again they ask me to compress images, who apparently take 77% of the loading time.

What to do? I did this to improve the speed and and loading time, but it doesn’t seem to work, except at Pingdom for some reason.

    My website is https://wildlifevagabond.com/

    Thanks,
    Havard

Since you’re using a CDN, I suspect that you need to flush the CDN of all images, so that it fetches the ones that are now optimized (assuming you use a pull mode CDN like MaxCDN or Cloudflare). The pingdom test is probably grabbing images from a CDN server that hadn’t already pulled the images, so it grabbed fresh copies. On the other side, the others could be pulling from one or more other servers that have the old images, and need flushing.

Thanks! It helped a little, but not that much. I think I have to resize the images an upload them again to really get the desired outcome.

No need to re-upload them, you can edit them right within WP.

What if I use the exact same image as a larger version on another part of the website? Is it possbile to use a scaled down and edited version (with custom widtxheight) one place and the full version another? I thought if I edited the file it would be edited across the site.

When I need something like that, I take advantage of the built-in resizes that WP generates, and I adjust those resizes to be whatever custom size I choose (instead of the WP defaults, which may or may not be ideal for my site). That way I’m consistently using the same “resize” in my content, instead of manually picking a size every time.
In your case, you could change the resizes, and then regenerate the sizes using a plugin. I think there is one called Regenerate Thumbnails that does this. Be careful, as a bulk resizing will also use up credits too. I think you may be able to regenerate one at a time with that plugin, but I’ve never tried that myself.
