    Hi guys,

Thanks for your support in advance.

My problem: the images in the galleries are not showing up in the xml sitemap created with yoast wordpress seo plugin.

    My settings:
    – both plugin versions up to date
    – the gallery images have tags and in Gallery > Manage tags the total number of images allocated to each tag is displayed
    – in seo > xml the ngg-tag in NOT excluded, thus it shows in the sitemap

Finally, when I generate the sitemap the xml file shows the ngg-tag taxonomy, then the tags but when I click the tags link no images are actually indexed.

    Any suggestion is appreciated.

    Thanks,

  • As far as i can see / understand no matter which gallery (plugin or default WordPress) you wil use, it’s just the same: the images are not added to the XML Sitemap through Yoast’s WordPress SEO.
    I’ve tested 4 plugin types:
    – Envira Gallery
    – SharePrint
    – AutoGrid
    – default standard WordPress Gallery

And there was no way i managed to get the images of those galleries appear in the XML Sitemap generated by WordPress SEO by Yoast.

I would be VERY happy though if anyone could prove me wrong by either telling me which gallery plugin to use where this WILL work or telling me what i’m doing wrong in my WordPress SEO settings.

    All suggestions welcome…

@makapa – As @zitemedia noted (thanks for the input) this does appear to be an issue more in WordPress SEO’s court than NextGEN Gallery’s (or any other gallery as it is).

We are reviewing additional SEO related ideas and functionality for NextGEN Gallery, please feel free to share your thoughts on this as a Feature Request here: https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/feature-voting/

    Thanks!

    Hi Cais,

to be honest, i’m not so sure.
Actually i’d like to see one XML sitemap, generated by any SEO plugin, showing the images from my gallery being recognised and correctly appearing in the page_sitemap.xml under the page where i put the gallery. Under the column with “Images” it always shows zero, zip, nada, whereas it should show the number of images that are actually contained within the gallery on that page. (+ eventually other images on that page that are not inside the gallery of course).

I’m not interested in attachment_sitemap.xml. And by the way, that shows zero for image count on every page as well anyhow…

The only gallery i can get this to work properly is the default WordPress Gallery.

As far as Yoast’s SEO plugin is concerned, please see here:
    https://yoast.com/wordpress-seo-content-analysis/
Please read the last two (short) chapters of his blog post…

As it seems that today, more than a year later, the same problem is still persisting.
And as it seems that both Yoast SEO & NextGen are among the most used plugins on WP, wouldn’t it be a good idea for one of you guys to put their pride away, and open up some sort of dialogue that would help get rid of this issue and allow for a huge community of enthousiastic but frustrrted SEO purists to keep enjoying both your solutions?
I’m a paying customer of both yours and their premium versions and terribly annoyed to be honest.

@zitemedia – We do realize WordPress SEO by Yoast is a very popular plugin and would be very happy for our plugin and theirs to work together rather than having to change our code with almost every release of theirs (or so it feels at times) so things don’t continue to break when both are active.

We’ve always been open to developers working together perhaps that post from a year ago you referenced will be a starting point (again) for us to move forward with.

    Thanks!

    Hi guys,

I found a solution – bellow is one of my websites, check the link bellow

    https://mobiladinpaleti.ro/page-sitemap.xml

You need to have the gallery inserted in the page using the legacy shortcodes, in my case

    [nggallery id=15]

Thank you for the answers and please excuse the fact that I did now mark the topic as solved

Feel free to ask any other questions as I am in a hurry and my answer may not be clear enough. More than happy to get back.

    thanks

@makapa – Thanks for the follow-up. Interestingly enough, the NextGEN Legacy shortcode renders its display based on the same code used by the IGW (“green button”) interface.
