    Hi,

Up until Yesterday-ish (don’t have an exact time frame, as I have been dealing with other projects, forcing me to somewhat ignore this one, sadly), the images on one of my sites, https://gadgetverse.net suddenly stopped working. They were functioning fine, and we haven’t added any add-ons, new themes or anything like that in recent days. They’ve just stopped showing up, despite nothing changing and being perfectly fine prior to that.

Any help in figuring out what has happened would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for your time!

(Side Note: I realise I’m using an old version, and do plan to upgrade [have a dev site with an updated version, just need to fix a few breaks in the style])

  • Are they in the media library? Do you have any caching on your site? Have you tried deactivating your plugins and switching to the default theme?

    Hi,

The files are indeed in the media library and still show just fine within the WordPress Dashboard/Admin CP. Memcache is active on the site.

As far as plugins, we only have a XenForo bridge active, which has been active since we first took this site live in 2011. The same goes for the theme. Any idea as far as what we might try? I haven’t deactivated the plugins or switched the style back to default, as I don’t see how it could come into play two years later. Could such a thing be possible?

    Thanks for your help!

Yes, that could be possible – and those are the standard troubleshooting steps. However, I’d still suggest that you make a full back-up of your site before doing anything else.

    Hi,

I backed up the site, deactivated the theme and the xF bridge and got no results. The default theme doesn’t show the images by default, and upon loading the articles, I did not see any images present whatsoever.

I re-activated the bridge and theme in the interim, as it is a live site.

Is there anything else that I can try? As an aside, with the primary theme, when clicking the empty space where the theme should be inside the article, the image will load and as mentioned they are available within the media library.

    Thanks for your help!

I’m not sure what you mean.

Sorry, getting a bit ahead of myself there:

When clicking the empty space where the image should be inside the article, the image will load as normal.

IE: When looking at this article, and clicking on the space where the image should be, the image will load in the lightbox.

    Hi,

I have tried playing around with a few different themes since this last post, and have found that it is indeed a theme-related issue. Is there anything in particular I can try to fix this issue? Absolutely nothing has changed since the theme (LondonLive by SkyAli) was installed in 2011, the images just randomly broke.

Any help in getting this fixed would be greatly appreciated!

Maybe something got changed on the server?

Your best bet is probably to ask the theme developer –

Commercial themes aren’t supported here – partly because we don’t have access to them, so it’s hard to say much about what might be wrong.

As you know, you really do need to get WP updated asap – running such an outdated version is a major security risk.

Definitely true, I’m working on getting the upgrade done ASAP because it is such an outdated version.

I’ll get in touch with SkyAli and see if he might be able to help. There were some recent server updates, which might have caused the problems. I’ll check on that, as well!

    Thanks for your help!

EDIT — Just wanted to add I have updated to 3.5.1, which has fixed an issue I was having unrelated to this, but has not resolved the primary issue. It is definitely theme related, so I am looking at switching to different themes. Thanks again for your help!
