• I am having a bad time with images at the moment. When I download an image to wordpress media it used to set the thumbnails as 300 x 250 which was in my media settings. But just recently, every image is set at 275 x 187

I have no idea why. I have tried to reset in media settings, but still won’t work.

Same thing with featured images. My featured images were increased in size to about 1000 x 700 pixels but now they are all downloaded as 275 x 187 which Yoast is saying is too small for facebook connectivity (not as I need that)

I have a vague feeling it’s since the upgrade to 4.9.5 last week, but I could be wrong.

    Anyone know what’s going on?

  • Hi,

First you have to backup your database. Then I think you should re-install a clean wordpress 4.9.5. There’s nothing with the resize, I have upgrade wordpress 4.9.3 to wordpress 4.9.5 on a few websites.

Unless you have a gallery plugin that also let you resize the image.

That is the only thing I could think of.

Did something change with your theme? Along with the Media settings, thumbnails and featured images can be defined in the function file of your theme.

How do i back up the database?
did you mean there’s nothing wrong with the resizing on your 4.9.5 sites?

I have over 50 sites and have not run into this issue.

there are many plugins that can help you backup your database…
