Hey @alauer – thanks for your message and for using ShortPixel!

Do you remember to have used a plugin to regenerate thumbnails?

Again the images needs to be reoptimised although i did not regenerate thumbnails meanwhile:

    additional qustions:
1: Can i remove the “ShortpixelsBackup”-folder from my server to save space? (Or better emptying it?)
2: I know that i need to have the “ShortpixelsBackup”-folder on the server to restore the originals or to optmimise in a better quality. In this case i can upload the folder again for a restore? (What do i need to take care of if i do so?)
3: Can i deactivate or even delete the plugin as long as i dont need it? (What do i need to take care of if i do so?)
4: The issue we are talking about in the first place: Can it be related to the fact that i already removed the “ShortpixelsBackup”-folder?

May i have an answer, please?

    Additional question:
5: If i run a fresh optimization (to optimize the rest of my images https://gtmetrix.com/reports/www.axellauer.de/iaSlmRBi)…do i need to have the “Shortpixel Backup” folder on my server and does the folder needs to contain all the originals which have been optimized earlier?

(BTW: as you see there are many questions users might ask, but as far as i can see they are not ansered in you FAQ nor in your blog or knowledge base)

I had general questions which dont have an connection to an issue.
So there is no conflict with the rules of this forum and you could easily answer them.

    Here they are again:
1: Can i remove the “ShortpixelsBackup”-folder from my server to save space? (Or better emptying it?)
2: I know that i need to have the “ShortpixelsBackup”-folder on the server to restore the originals or to optmimise in a better quality. In this case i can upload the folder again for a restore? (What do i need to take care of if i do so?)

    Hi @alauer,

Here’s our answers. Please note that if you contact us here you will get a faster answer ??

    1) Take a look at this article, please: https://help.shortpixel.com/article/34-where-is-the-backup-folder-located
    2) Yes, you can do that. Just upload it in the same place and that’s it, the plugin will recognize the backups.
    3) Yes. Before deactivating the plugin, you will see a popup asking you to save your settings or not, in case you want to activate it later. More information: https://help.shortpixel.com/article/66-what-happens-if-i-stop-using-the-optimize-images-feature
    4) We can’t be sure. We would need to further investigate this, so we will appreciate if you can contact us here ??
    5) Running the bulk optimization will only optimize those pictures that have not been optimized yet. Therefore the folder is not needed. However, if you want to re-optimize them using another optimization method (Glossy, Lossy or Lossless), you will need the folder.

    Have a good day,
