Images missing

I have added an image on one of the template pages.
So it is a .php page in the /wp-content/themes/ourtheme directory.
But it shows a broken image. I have even put a direct link to the image like:
https://oursite.com/images/imagename.jpg and it still doesn’t work. Yet I can view the image by itself online just fine.
I even deactivated the plugin and cleared my browser cache and it still does not work. What do I need to do to add this image?
