    Hello,

I noticed a problem lately with my site.
The images size are being drastically modified after I upload them when they’re displayed on the site. For example, the latest image I uploaded was a PNG of 500kb, but after the upload on the site, when it’s dispayed, it’s only 180kb… with the loss of quality that comes with it! How is that possible? What causes this and how to fix it?

I also noticed that the real image that I uploaded on the site is still there with the correct size (500kb) but what is displayed on the site is not what I uploaded!! It also has a different address!

    Correct upload: https://www.unsamediquelconque.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/episode-01979-travail.png
    What is actually displayed: https://i0.wp.com/www.unsamediquelconque.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/episode-01979-travail.png

What is this “i0.wp.com” and how to remove this? This is very annoying. I work hard to have the best quality images as possible and then it reduces the quality without asking… I want the original files displayed and not this rip-off i0 thing that destrosy the image quality.

    Thanks in advance.

Look at the differences. I scaled the images at 300% so you can clearly see that the image displayed has been modified:

Disable the “server images from our CDN” option in Jetpack’s settings.

Hello. Thank you! But what is “jetpack”?
I can’t find that in my admin panel…

After looking on google, it looks like it’s a plugin but I don’t have that in my plugin list.

This indicates you’re using the Jetpack plugin.

However, I don’t see that Jetpack is running on your site, though it looks like you’re using something calleed “blizhost-cloudcache”. You might ask your host about that, because something’s pushing your images onto the wordpress.com cloud.

Hello. Yes indeed, that “blizhost-cloudcache” is actually installed.

On the top of the plugin page, I have this message:

Blizhost CloudCache Purge requires Jetpack-connected plugin to use WordPress Image CDN. Please install and connect this plugin to automatically use this feature. Do not show again.

This is weird. If it’s not installed, I wonder why it’s doing this :-/

Maybe it’s hidden? Do you havewp-content/plugins/jetpack?

I can’t say. I don’t have access to the FTP at the moment, the host has modified its security recently and my software can’t connect to it (a problem of “error 421 cleartext session” or something).

Well, I’ll check if I can access the FTP again with another tool. In case it’s hidden like you say. What should I do?

After checking, there is no such folder.

Ok, I’ll let you know what they say about this. Thank you.

    Hello @awareman,

Thanks for showing this bug to us.
I added define( 'DISABLE_WP_CDN', true ); in your configuration file, which should disable the CDN feature completely on your site.

Maybe you should consider reading this page. CDN is a good resource for your site, and decreasing the size of images does not mean quality loss.
In fact, the loss is not perceptible, unless you are paranoid with the quality of the image.
And CDN greatly improves the speed of your site.

    Hello, thank you very much.
I see that the problem is solved now. I’ll read your link.
However, yes I am *paranoid* with image quality ??
I’m a computer graphic artist and I can percieve the difference greatly.
    Look: https://www.gillesnuytens.com/temp/problem.png
Maybe “regular” people won’t see it but I do…

Glad to know that I helped you. ??
