• I’ve used the “Add Twitter card meta data” feature in the social menu of WordPress SEO by Yoast for quite some time and it used to work flawlessly. However, lately the cards don’t show the image thumbnails any more.

I’ve run multiple URLs through the Twitter card validator (https://dev.twitter.com/docs/cards/validation/validator) and it does show a thumbnail in the cards.

I haven’t changed anything in the plugin’s settings. I’ve also compared the source code of two articles (one whose Twitter card shows a thumbnail, one whose doesn’t) and there is absolutely no difference in the meta data generated by the WordPress SEO by Yoast plugin.

Does anyone else have this problem? If so, I think this is most likely a problem caused by a policy change on Twitter’s end.

  • Yes, I am having the same issue as well. I haven’t changed any settings in my site or added any plugins which might interfere with Yoast. By the way, I found this thread through Google.

Twitter Cards function is not working at all for me.

    Tested with: https://dev.twitter.com/docs/cards/validation/validator
Result: “Unable to render card preview”
    latest version of the plugin

Hi all, I was having the same trouble but now have them working.

This is how I done it, with a little help from Wade Harman. I’m using WordPress SEO by Yoast to add my header tag. but if you don’t have that then you could try the plugin called WP Twitter Cards, once you’ve added the header tags required:

    Visit the site: https://dev.twitter.com/docs/cards/validation/validator

and choose summary card. Enter the details from one of your blog posts in the required fields, then when entering your URL for validation enter the URL of the BLOG POST.

I then had it validated but saw a button below to validate the main site, can’t remember the wording but it’s just below validated link.

My request was then sent to Twitter who approved me withing a few minutes (but you may wait for a week or more).

That’s how I done it chaps, hope it helps you all ??
