Images in table – Displays diff in Vista vs Win / & XP

  • I’ve just realised that images in a table cell with a link attached is presented differently depending on Windows Op-system.

    With Vista, it looks perfectly ok, but when checking the same page from a Win 7 and Win XP it looks, well not ok, because the images in the right hand column gets compressed.

    Do not edit the Twenty Eleven theme. It is the default WordPress theme and having access to an unedited version of the theme is vital when dealing with a range of site issues. First create a child theme for your changes.

    Do you mean there’s a link between modifying the theme and the results as explained in my first thread entry?

    I believe the only change done is to remove the search function in the Header.

    After some more testing I would say it’s related to IE 8 (or older?) since the following could be experienced.

    PC with Vista and IE 9.0.8 is ok. Firefox 10.0.2 is also ok.

    PC with Win 7 and IE 8.0.7 not ok. Firefox 10.0.2 ok. After updating of IE 8 to IE 9 it’s ok like with Vista.

    Other PC with Win 7 and IE 8.0.7 also not ok but with Google Chrome 19.0.1 it’s ok.

    Iphone with WP Touch is also showing ok.

    Tricky situation, is there any way around this. Visitors with IE 8 (or older?) will not experience this page correctly.
    Is it possible that there might be a way around this? Anyone ?

    But this is a problem only for one static page. I haven’t seen any other differences than this specific with images in table.

    There are likely differences specific to how IE displays tables — the internet will give you tons of info about IE issues. One thing that you might try is putting a   in the empty table cells.

    Another option is that you don’t really need to use a table to display the stuff on that page the way you have it. CSS can do it using divs and float positioning.
