I tried the same code as below, it is working without any crash

if(has_post_thumbnail($post->ID)) {
$content = '<p>' . get_the_post_thumbnail($post->ID) .

}

}
add_filter('the_excerpt_rss', 'rss_post_thumbnail');
add_filter('the_content_feed', 'rss_post_thumbnail');

And where in the function.php file do you put it?

at very end of the functions.php file.
