images in post show as a HTML instruction

I have just started experimenting with blog creation, I have created a post by writing some text and inserting a picture from my computer, however when I try to create a post from my android tablet the text is displayed on the post, but the image is not

the image does appear to have been uploaded to my uploads folder and XML-RPC is enabled in my writing options

when I edit the post on my computer it shows the HTML instruction for the image, but without the opening < or closing >on both the visual and the html editing screens and also in the post itself, if I add the < & > via the HTML editing screen then update the post it shows nothing at all

I hope I can overcome this because I want to blog via my tablet when I am travelling
