Images from photon taking too much time to load

Thanks for the report! Do you use any caching plugins on your site? If so, could you temporarily disable them? Then, check to see if that helps at all. This will allow us to determine if a caching plugin is interfering with Photon.

I’m using cloudflare + w3c total cache. I disabled both one by one and found the following resutls.

Both the results look far from expected. The load time still is around 1-1.4secs.

Let me know what else should I check.

I ran some tests on some of the images on your site, and they seem to be rendered a bit faster through Photon on my end.

Here is an example:

• With Photon: https://i0.wp.com/www.coupondaddy.in/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/amazon-pc-130×42.jpg
• https://i.wpne.ws/b4iL – 200ms on first load
• https://i.wpne.ws/b4ia – 191ms on the second load
• The same image without Photon: https://www.coupondaddy.in/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/amazon-pc-130×42.jpg
• https://i.wpne.ws/b4md – 915ms on first load
• https://i.wpne.ws/b4ls – 612ms on the second load

Of course, the results will vary depending on your connection and your proximity to one of our datacenters. It is possible that you get different results on your end if your server is closer to your location than one of the servers of the Photon infrastructure.

If most of your readers are localized in an area close to your servers, and if you’re satisfied with the speed of your images, you could disable the Photon module.

If, on the other hand, your readers are coming from all over the world, it might be best to keep using a CDN like Photon.
