Images doubled after migration

  • Hello,

    I’ve successfully migrated my old website to a new domain. But in my WP Dashboard under “media” my pictures appear twice now.

    Also: If I put the cursor onto a picture in the frontend, it shows the image link of the old website, even though if I click onto the picture, it shows the image link of the new domain. That’s strange. Also if I take a deep look into the image links of my WP dashboard under “media”, they all have the correct picture links of the new domain. So the migration has been successful.

    So, my question is:
    1) Why are my pictures doubled now (and how can I delete the unnecessary image copies)?
    2) Why does the image link of my new website still shows the image link of my old website if I put my cursor onto the picture, but if I open the image, it shows the link name of the new website?

    what steps did you take to check for URLs that needed adjusting (old to new)?

    Hi Lisa,

    You already recommended the same plugin for another issue earlier. I’d prefer and love to receive another solution than running a new plugin.

    To answer your question: It’s not about replacing the URL’s of my pictures. They are successfully replaced with the new URL’s. I can see that in the picture details under “Dashboard” -> “Media”. My problem is 1) my pictures now exist twice after the migration (and having the same URL’s) and 2) clicking on my pictures in the frontend would show the correct picture URL (of my new domain), but moving the cursor to my pictures (without clicking) would show the picture URL of my old domain. I don’t understand that.

    Can anyone help with this?
