Just started with WordPress, hosting within my own domain.
Trying to upload images, but is only says it fails to do so.
As an alternative, I created a folder called wp-content/uploads myself and uploaded images via ftp. But still the images do not appear in the media library. How do I get the images into my new site?
    Thnak you for helping out!

First, delete the uploads folder that you created. Then try changing the permissions on the wp-content directory to 766. If you still have problems, try 767, 775 or 777. Once your uploads are working, change the permissions on wp-content back to 755 again and check that everything still works OK.

great, thank you! Funny thing: before I created the folfer myself, it still did not upload. Any suggestions where to change the permission? (I’ve been reading the last couple of days so many pages’for various issues). Thank you again.

also: I installed wordpress myself and I read that I probably would not have to change the permission, so I did not look futhre.
Since I do need to change it: where do i do that?

I have read the codex, but still don’t know how to enter the popup that is showed in the link you provided.
When I right click the index.php in Explorer (Dutch version), what are the next steps? I have tried all kinds of options, but still have not been able to open the popup where I can change the permissions.
Apologies for all the questions. Reason for me to start using WP is that I believe its designs, possibilities etc. are more up to date and sophisticated. So far I have made my websites myself with Dreamweaver or FP.
Hope you or anyone can help me with these steps. Thank you for your patience.

Try asking your hosts for assistance with changing the permissions on your wp-content folder.

found out that i had to change permissions in my ftp program, not in explorer. anyway; WP uploads but image data do not upload. an error message is generated. i tried with all different permissions, but they still don’t show. When i upload them myself via ftp, they are still not recognized.
Deleted all of them again, uploaded again via WP but still the folder'” uploads” stays empty and only the file name appears in WP. Not the file itself.
What else can I do to make this work? it’s been over 3 days now that I’m trying, but no results yet. I really appreciate help!! Thank you!
