when I upload images via WP, it recognizes the file name, but does not show the actual image.
I have already tried changing the folder’s permissions but nothing helps! Can someone please help me with this? Starting to get desperate. Thank you!

now i uploaded a photograph into wp-content/uploads myself via ftp just to see if it shows in this post

<img src=”https://mexicoholidayhouse.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/mexicoholidayhouse_jungle-house-with-private-pool_02.jpg” alt=”rancho el teterete” />

but that image (a different one) does not show either.

Can you please describe exactly what you have set in Settings -> Media?

Thread Starter quartel

(@quartel)

Thumbnail size: 310 x 150

checkbox: Crop thumbnail to exact dimensions (normally thumbnails are proportional) is clicked

Medium size: max widt = 590 max height is empty (0)
Large size: max widt = 950 max height is empty (0)

Auto-embeds
checkbox auto embeds is clicked

Maximum embed size

Width is empty, Height = 600
If the width value is left blank, embeds will default to the max width of your theme.

Uploading Files
Store uploads in this folder: wp-content/uploads (Default is wp-content/uploads)

Full URL path to files: https://mexicoholidayhouse.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads

Configuring this is optional. By default, it should be blank. (which I tried yesterday too, but did not help)

checkbox: Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders
is not checked.

Hope this is helpful!

Just deleted what you said but no results: no images are uploaded, only the name of the file and i just chekced via ftp: the uploads folder remains empty.
permission is still 767

Did you move WordPress after it was installed?

Thread Starter quartel

(@quartel)

no i didn’t – i installed it straight into the wordpress folder

hello emsi, have you any other suggestions? i’m going to mexico 2morrow so i will be off line most of the time. in the meantime, i’ll put up my old website again instead of trying to get the wp version running (or that is: desperately trying to get the photos uploaded). hope you can think of something how to get it running.

should i reinstall?

Can you see any images in your Media Library?

Hello esmi,
currently I am at my place in Mexico (in the jungle) with a very slow i-net connection. I’ll be back in The Netherlands by the 2nd of April and will then reinstall WordPress.
Or if you have any other suggestions, I would be grateful (since still no images are uploaded: the file names appear in the library, without the actual images shown (only a cross) and when looking at the folder via ftp, none have been uploaded).

hello emsi,
back from mexico and I have installed for my other site (www.josephinequartel.nl) WordPress as well. I took it off the first one (www.mexicoholidayhouse.com).
This time in the root. the properties of the directory, incl. its subs, are 775, so it should be writable.
But again: photo’s do not upload and now the folder uploads is not even created!
What’s wrong?

this is the message: Unable to create directory /var/www/vhosts/josephinequartel.nl/httpdocs/wp-content/uploads. Is its parent directory writable by the server?
