when I upload images via WP, it recognizes the file name, but does not show the actual image.
I have already tried changing the folder’s permissions but nothing helps! Can someone please help me with this? Starting to get desperate. Thank you!

Check your uploads path in Settings->Media. It should be blank in most installs.

Thank you esmi. I checked the path and it gave the path to the upload folder.
I deleted it and saved, and uploaded again, but it still does not work: no photographs appear. (it must be eart radiation ;-). Help!
May i should completely deinstall and then reinstall wordpress?

Can you post a link to a publically accessible page that contains one of these “missing” images?

sure – some of them are on my facebook site: https://www.facebook.com/mexicoholidayhouse.
There is a folder called January 2012

Also I could sen d some by email.

No – we need to see these images in a page on your WordPress site.

the main photograph which you can see directly when opening the link is one of them.

I can’t get them on my WP site: they are not visible!
I am trying different themes but that doesn’t work.

The link to the WP site is: https://www.mexicoholidayhouse.com/wordpress/

I’ll try to upload again and then you can see that the image is missing.
I also can not change the header photo.
    Will do that right now.

We know but you can go through the motions of adding them. We need to be able to see the final markup & paths in your WordPress pages to try and troubleshoot the problem.

I just inserted an image on the page: about rancho el teterete, but is does not show. Tried to change the header, but no effect.

    https://mexicoholidayhouse.com/wordpress/?p=1

there you can see that there is no image file

You do not seem to have tried to insert any images in that page. And your site’s header image is a completely different subject at the moment.

Finally, I found image markup on https://mexicoholidayhouse.com/wordpress/?p=1 and it confirms that your images are not being uploaded to the correct folder. Have you tried looking in the wp-content/uploads folder on your site using FTP? Can you please describe exactly what you have set in Settings -> Media?

    Thread Starter quartel

    (@quartel)

    the folder uploads is empty.
in settings i have the max. width set.
and I emptied the lines store uploads in this folder, but before you asked me to do that, the folder is:
    https://mexicoholidayhouse.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads

Fyi: i did not install WP in the root, but in a folder called wordpress.
Reason is that now when clients go to my webpage, they can still see my original index.htm which says that I am updating the site (www.mexicoholidayhouse.com)
    Does this help?

when ii ‘upload’ an image, it does give the url:

    https://mexicoholidayhouse.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/mexicoholidayhouse_jungle-house-with-private-pool_01.jpg

but when i look into that folder via ftp, there is no file.
