Hi. In the latest update, Yoast made some changes to the metadata of images in sitemaps. This change was made based on the announcement made by Google. However, according to Google, it will come into to effect in August 2022. The latest Yoast update has not made any impact on the current ranking of old images (old images: the one uploaded before the update) on my website.? However, the images that were uploaded after the plugin update do not rank at all, this is odd for my website. I have a website that has good authority and getting good ranking for images is fairly easy since it not a very competitive niche. This is not a critique, this is a question: is it likely that removing the metadata of sitemaps in the Yoast plugin was done too early?? ?Is it possible that right now we still need the properties?<image:title>?and?<image:caption>?to rank new images?`

    Hello Fredalg,

Thanks for reaching out regarding your images.

You referred to a recent Yoast SEO update. Are you referring to v18.8 of May 6th 2022 where we removed XML sitemap image properties title and caption following deprecation by Google? Indeed, Google mentioned that the deprecated tags will have no effect on indexing and search features after August 6, 2022.

I understand new images on your site do not rank and you think it is related to releasing the update too early. Can you share some of the affected URLs? We do not think this was too early as we want our users to stay right at the cutting edge.
