• My host recently offered free upgrades to SSL and wanting to be up on security, I took the plunge. I read several articles about the process. I used plugins such as “Force HTTPS”, “Really Simple SSL” I have tried using the plugin “Better Search Replace” to change instances of HTTP to HTTPS (both with www and without.)

After all of these things, My site is still missing its banner and images I posted over the years. When I go to a post to add or upload a new image, my gallery appears with all images blanked out and not displaying.

A couple of things: I use the plug in “Photo Gallery” for my images. I have tried disabling the program and get the same results.

Also, I am using Wordfence Security (Free) for my site. I also tried disabling this plugin while I did “Search and Replace” to make sure there weren’t protected files that I wasn’t changing. This failed too.

Finally, I checked my htaccess file and saw that I still have references to the http in there. Specifically a few lines like this:

    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^https://marwoodwilliams.com$ [NC]

While I have been using WordPress for several years, I don’t want to mess with the htaccess file unless I know what is what.

Does anyone have suggestions? Something I am overlooking I should do? Should I change my htaaccess file references from “http” to https” Any assistance will be greatly appreciated!

  • Try a plugin like Force HTTPS… that should resolve your issue.

I have tried this plugin and still have the issue.

    I appreciate the response, though!

Okay, then. Yes, my next idea would be to update the htaccess file and see if that fixes the issue.

There might be a problem with the SSL on the hostgator end though. I would call them and ask them to take a look at it. It may not be installed correctly.

    Hope this helps.

I just went into htacess and changed http to https and that seems to have done the trick.

    Thanks for the help!

Great! We are happy to help you any time! Feel free to post here whenever a problem arises that does not have to do with a premium theme or plugin. Thats what we are here for!
