• Hello
I just imported my self hosted blog from wordpress.com
I ran the import successfully and it grabbed all the images from my posts.

Now my blog is acting weird! sometimes the images are there and sometimes they are not! If an image is not appearing, just the caption, I can edit the post and call the same image from the library. If I use html editor and try to open the url of the non-displaying image I get a 404 not found error.

All the images are there in the media library, sounds a bit buggy to me!

I did install a few plugins that have not been tested with this version yet, should I try and uninstall these? or would it make no difference?

    Thanks
    Tony

    OK
I discovered what was wrong when I looked at the html. The image urls were pointing to their old location at wordpress.com

I have had to manually change each image link, wouldn’t have thought I would have to do that! Was there something I missed?

I have a fresh install of 2.8.4 and I am having to make all these import changes manually.

My homepage is a mess because it re-formatted my pictures and wont read the more tags.

    can anyone help?

Not sure what you mean by “help”, but you could have done a “Replace All” on the import file to change the domain name and path for all the links to images at once.

I had a similar problem with Page Links, as opposed to Image Links, and switched to Relative Links where you don’t specify the domain name at all. In my case, I wanted to easily switch between a Test Site and the Real Site.

    Thanks Adiant
So this is one of the things I should have known in retrospect!
