    Hi all!

Yes I’m a newbie. My idea was to load an image widget to the right of the logo in the header. It is where I will be putting announcements having to do with the facility. I figured out how to install the widget and then load the original image into it.

My problem now is I want to swap out the original image and post a new announcement image into the widget while the site is live. I went into wp-admin under Appearance>Widgets and swapped out the image in the appropriate header image widget and replaced it with the new image. I clicked save and thought I was done.

When I went to the site https://www.wrgym.com, on several pages the original header widget image is still there. However on one of the pages About Us>Our Coaches & Staff the new image appears in the header widget image area.

I’m just plain confused I thought this would be a simple way to do it. Can anyone let me know what I’m doing wrong or not doing properly.

    Thanks

    Kelownaguy

Remember to press CTRL and F5 simultaneously when viewing an updated page/site. Or try emptying your browser cache. This should ensure that your web browser fetches a fresh copy of the page rather than serving up an out-dated copy from your own cache.

    Also disable/deactivate any caching plugin(s).

Thanks esmi, I’ll try that. But the way I understand it, that will refresh the site on my machine and I should be able to see the changes. I’m on a mac by the way is it the same.

But what about other people visiting the site, if they have been there before will they have to empty their cache to see the changes??

On a Mac, use Apple + R or Cmd + R to refresh a page.

will they have to empty their cache to see the changes?

In theory, yes but there’s no real way that you can control this.

So how would one ensure that a user see’s the most up-to-date version of the site?

As I said above, that’s something you cannot control.

Bummer!! Thanks by the way the Command R made everything on my site appear properly, but maybe there is a bigger problem in doing it this way. Any recommendations on how you would do it? I thought it would be like updating content. Just edit it, upload and be done with it. Much like you would do for the body of a post. And once it was uploaded thats what people would see.

There is nothing you or I or anyone can do. This is how the web works. I’m not sure what the problem really is now.

Here is the issue I’m trying to deal with. We periodically run special events at our facility. I thought I could use the space to the right of the logo in the header as a bulletin board to keep users up-to-date. My intention was to, once an event was over, swap out the old image in the header widget and upload the new image announcing the new event. Thought that was a simple solution. But from what you’re telling me, there is no way of ensuring the user sees the new image in the header widget, unless they refresh their browser.

So now I’m not sure how I would do this.
