I’m posting this because Emsi shut down the last few forums that this was being discussed in and Ben gave me a fix that says my theme is outdated but as previously stated, I checked with my theme created Tofurious and he said the problem was NOT on his end.

I changed my theme to the basic WP theme and no pics

I removed my plug ins and No pics

I checked with my theme creater, he stated not on their end

I checked with hostgator not their issue

I reuploaded my WP no pics

I’d have to say the issue is with WP, since I can’t do anything more to make my images come back.

And actually if there are more then a few of us, which there are, I’d say something has to do with that update, before that.. everything was fine.

Now my images upload at 0x0 pixels and show as grey boxes..

    So …

    I’m still uploading, or downloading…

I had a backup it’s on my FTP and hostgator I did a back up there and they save the sites weekly so I have both..

Are you still uploading? We never said you should downgrade.

I’m not a techky or web developer so a lot of this stuff has me lost.

We know, just ask what you don’t understand.

Try and download the weekly backup from your host.

I know and never said you said to downgrade. I found it in my files and thought I would give it a shot, it did not work now I’m uploading the back up to the files again.. that will take some time.

I have a backup that I did also from hostgator, but I’m uploading my backup from wordpress first… then I’ll go over to hostgator and try there.

It would be great if the problem was solved.. ha ha

Okay so here is what I now have.. a back end! LOL

All my images are question marks in the library BUT, i just uploaded an image and it worked.. I can see it in the library but I can’t post anything..

I’m on version 3.2.1 and it wants me to upgrade to 3.4.1

UGH.. I’m scared to do it in case we go right back to where we were

    Thread Starter Lisa nikole

    (@lisa-nikole)

    Okay I take it back

go to my site.. https://www.LisaNikole.com/blog and the post I just did testing 1,2,3 is up and running WITH an image…

    Thread Starter Lisa nikole

    (@lisa-nikole)

Okay I updated the theme and the plug ins everything went well..

    I updated the WP to 3.4.1 and…

I can see the image in the library but.. not showing on the blog

Does this help with any answers as to the problem yet?

    1) Can you see all images in the media > library or just the ones you have reuploaded?

I can’t see all the other (older) images. I hope you didn’t remove your uploads folder with the downgrade/upgrade.
Check if your uploads path in Settings->Media is still the same.
Check if the other images are still in the uploads folder by using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

If the images are not there anymore and you have a backed up uploads folder (with all images in them):

1 download (backup) the uploads folder that’s on your server now by using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides. Call it incomplete_uploads_folder for future reference.
2 upload your backed up uploads folder by using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

As I said before, make a full backup (database and files) of the situation you’re in now. And ask your host if they can help implement the most recent weekly backup (database and files).

If there’s anything you don’t understand about making a database backup ask here.

I cannot see ALL the images but, I expected that and I can live with that if it means I can once again post.

I am now on the standard theme with 3.4.1 I can post images, I can see images on both my library and blog.

To me that is far better then I have had in the past month.

My next move, at some point today is to try to reinstall my theme… If all goes well i will let my library remain and will continue on with a blog that is functional.

I don’t want my old backup back.. that is when I could not post an image at all.. so that is not going to happen.

I do have the backup and I will look for the library just in case but honestly I’m so happy to be able to post again.. I can’t even tell you.

What I did may have been foolish in so many eyes, but desperate people do desperate things and this time, it worked…

Why it worked I cannot tell you, why the upgrade did what it did to my blog I have no idea..

I’m just happy I fixed it.

I’ll let you know about the library and theme upgrade later tonight.

    Thank you

Okay,, I’ve earned the new title of website fixer! Sheesh and not that I knew what I was doing, but I used what I had and i made it make sense and well.. it worked

I’m backed up… I can see images in my library.. well, the new ones since last night, all others still appear as grey boxes but they show on the blog.. So, I don’t care…

The theme is up and running

    The image library is complete

And it’s done, and up and running AND best yet working.

It’s been one heck of a mont and I NEVER want to go through that again…

Thank you for your helps. I’m not sure what was broken.. or why… but it’s working now, let’s hope it just stays working on the next update…

    be well folks

Hey Lisa, and others. I ran into this issue and I believe it has to do with featured images not containg the right meta information that wordpress 3.4.2 requires. So I went over and did a quick summary of what I believed was happening and how I created a hack to restore the featured images of older posts as well as provide a plugin that can be used in most cases , but the plugin may not always be the best solution. I made a video too.
