Images appeared broken and give 404 error

Somehow, the links to your images look like this:

https://www.kitgenie.com/home/mayurahuja/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/2PAC_Poster-360x450.jpg

When they should look like

https://www.kitgenie.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/2PAC_Poster-360x450.jpg

That /home/mayurahuja/public_html is a problem

Install the plugin “better search and replace”. Search for https://www.kitgenie.com/home/mayurahuja/public_html and replace with https://www.kitgenie.com

Which table do I apply the changes to?

the tables wp_posts and wp_postmeta should suffice.

Did that however the images still give a 404 error

I still see https://www.kitgenie.com/home/mayurahuja/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/2PAC_Poster-360×450.jpg as a typical image address. Did Better Search and Replace report making any changes?

I did follow the instructions you gave however there was no change in URL to the files. I dont know if I should try it with another plugin
While changing settings were:
Case-Insensitive box – unchecked
Replace GUIDs – unchecked
Run as dry run – unchecked

replace GUIDs – check, not uncheck

checked GUIDs and the problem still exists

So, we all say “hmmmmmm”. Please try disabling *all* plugins and uploading an image on a test page someplace. Does it work? If so, then enable plugins one at a time and repeat uploading images until you run into the plugin that breaks it.

Also, are all of the images loaded after the 4.6 upgrade or are some from before?

also, please go to https://kitgenie.com/wp-admin/options.php page and see what upload_path and upload_url_path are set to.

I did upload a new image https://www.kitgenie.com/home/mayurahuja/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Breakfast_PinBadge-1.jpg however it still uses the same location
I guess I will have to deactivate all plugins and check them one by one. This will mostly be related to a plugin “Regenerate Thumbnails” used by the theme “Savoy” for woocommerce.

Also I am using V5.5.49 of MySQL and woocommerce recommends 5.6. Could this be a possible reason for the links not changing?

Did you explicitly set the upload path in wp-config.php? By default, it should be blank.

I do not recollect explicitly setting the upload path. Im 100% sure it has been the same since the beginning. Please suggest steps to be taken to solve the problem
