Image/Media upload Issue

    Hello all,

    I am a Mac user (OS X 10.5.7). I’ve had a log standing issue of trying to upload images from my Mac computers. When I click the Upload/Insert image icon to add an image, a flash window opens entitled “Add an Image” but the reset of the window is completely blank. I get no server error logs or errors from WordPress. Here are the things I’ve done to troubleshoot the issue (in addition to all the googling):

    -updated Flash/Shockwave
    -downgraded Flash/Shockwave
    -tried different browsers
    -cleared cache (and reset Safari)
    -disabled themes
    -disabled plugins
    -updated WP from 2.7.1 to 2.8
    -chmod upload directory
    -modifiy .htaccess
    -use “no flash uploader” plugin
    –use different os and or version

    The only way I can successfully get the window to populate any information and thereby upload images, is to use an older mac running OS 10.4.11 or use Windows XP. Can anyone provide some insight to this?

  • I am having the same problem after upgrading from 2.7.1 to 2.8, using Windows XP. When uploading, after the “crunching” instead of showing a thumbnail of the image I get that “broken image thingy” thumbnail and then the same problem you see on the “Add an image” dialog.

    Please someone enlighten us as to a solution.

    I don’t think our problems are the same. I can’t upload at all. The only way I can upload is to use an older version of OS X, use Windows or upload the image manually. It seems like you at least have the ability to select an image (which I can’t do) and then attempt to upload it. I can’t select any image from my computer because the flash upload window doesn’t display anything except the brown title bar at the top that says “Add an Image” and an “X” to close the window. I’ve even tried reloading the page to no avail.

    I would also like to add, that I can use the flash uploader under the Media selection in the CP. But for some reason, if I go to insert an image while writing a post I get the blank “Add an image” window. I can also provide a screenshot if that would help. If anyone can assist, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

    I’ve resolved the issue. The culprit: a custom style sheet I use in Safari. After removing that style sheet under preferences -> advanced, the flash uploader works just fine.
