Recent ImageMagick does not have known vulnerabilities.

Stopping using something just because it had (in the past) some vulnerability history is rubbish. PHP is fixing vulnerabilities (almost) every month, most often in EXIF extension, WordPress sometimes too, many plugins and themes.
Thats why it is important to apply updates.

GD had problems in the past too.

Considering usage, GD is very basic, it is aimed at basic functional and not on quality. Imagick is aimed at image quality and more complex manipulations than GD,
    therefore its preferred way.

I can be wrong about what exactly is used by plugin, but i assume it is NOT command line Imagick, but PHP extension. By the way, WordPress is using it by default, if present.

    I agree with you 100%.

It does not affect me personally, because I run my own servers and I am not with any mass hosters.

Many, often inexperienced, users suffer from a “bug in the plugin” paranioa. No matter how long it is already over.
I was reported that many hosters do not provide imagemagick for the users. And I have passed this on here. I am of the opinion that this plugin deserves to be in the top of the image editing plugins.

    Hi @medienhusky!

Thanks for using our plugin and sharing your thoughts. We are aware that not all hosting providers have ImageMagick available for their customers and we would like to support GD as well. But as @fierevere says, GD is very basic and doesn’t support everything that ImageMagick does. However we are investigating the possibilities to support GD as well, possibly with limited functionality.

Hello @medienhusky! Yesterday we pushed out a release with support for GD. ImageMagick will be the default (just as with WordPress) and GD will be the fall back if you don’t have IM.

    Hello @hemenderki,

yes, I have already seen and started the German translation. ??

I have my own servers, for me such things are never a problem.

The reason for the thread was a major discussion in a German FB group. There it was pointed out several times that German hosters mostly use GD and do not provide their customers with an ImageMagick.

I see @medienhusky! Well now they can all be included to try out the plugin. ??
