Hi there, so we’re dealing with a client at the moment who has had a bad experience with their current designer, we have access to their FTP to move the whole site over to our server. First time doing this so have experienced a few issues that we’ve worked through, however, the latest one is confusing us a bit.

We transferred the site using the ‘Duplicator’ Plugin and got the site across to our server, although we are now struggling with the paths for images. On the original site, a blog image was uploaded January 2015, so you would assume it would be placed in /uploads/2015/01/picture. The link to the image is that (https://www.bespokeandoak.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Bringing_New_Ideas_To_Life_Bespoke_Blog-270×130.jpg) so on the FTP you go to that path and it doesn’t exist – there is no /2015/01 folder and therefore no image, but of course, the site is pulling that image from somewhere…

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can only assume that it is something going on in the Database, but wouldn’t know what exactly that could be or where the images are stored.

On the new site, the code is obviously looking for the original path to which it isn’t finding the images because they don’t exist in that location. I hope that makes sense!

Normally, the image should exist in the folder 2015/01, why you might still be seeing it despite not being on the current server is probably that its pointing to the previous server. Is the domain ‘https://www.bespokeandoak.com/’ pointing to your server or the former designer’s?

Well for now, we’re setting the new site up on a temp. domain (https://bespoke.crawfordandjohn.com). The site is still live at the old address of https://www.bespokeandoak.com.

We still have access to the old site’s FTP – and it’s strange because the file in that location on the old site doesn’t exist either, despite when you click on the same image in the old or new site, the url after the domain points to the same place, eg /uploads/2015/01/picture, but like I say, the file isn’t actually stored there…very strange!

Hi Guys, thanks for your support. Aitor, you’re quite right – when you follow the link it seems as though it does exist in that place, everything seems legitimate, however, if you go through to that exact location through FTP, it does not exist – it is very strange.
