• I recently fail to upload image. And it shows the following error message:

“Unable to create directory /home/.slickster/davyau/ask-nottell.com/wp-content/plugins/2008/12. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”

Grateful for any tip how to resolve it. Thanks in advance,

    David

You need to change the permissions to that folder but … Why are your images being written to the plugins folder?

Check (in your dashboard) Settings -> Miscellaneous and let us know what Store uploads in this folder is set to.

The default is wp-content/uploads, so it’s a bit odd.

Any idea what that folders attributes should be chmod to?

    777? or 755?

    I’ve chmod the wp-content/upload folder to 777 because 755 wasn’t working either.

I’ve disabled plugin’s changed themes and nothing upon nothing allows me to insert an image into my posts.

My theme requires the image to be uploaded onto my server and every time I go to insert the image from my media library into my post I get a blank screen and this URL path:

    https://mydomain.com/wp-admin/media-upload.php?post_id=124&type=image&TB_iframe=true&tab=library

@ateegarden, mine are set to 755 and it works fine, however any advice in THIS thread is going to be aimed at davyau, who is using WP 2.2, so it may not help you. I suggest you make your own thread, or keep using This one ?? I don’t think it’s nice to get other people confused with help for something unrelated, you know.

DOH! You’re absolutely correct. I didn’t even notice the 2.2. My apologies!

    Ipstenu,

Thanks for your quick help!! I looked into the dashboard and found that it is wp-content/upload. But the error message did show wp-content/plugins.

Anyway, I tried to upload again. It showed another error message now:

‘Connection Interrupted. The document contains no data. The network link was interrupted whilst negotiating a connection. Please try again.’

    Your thought? Thanks again!

The first error, I suspect, is from a plugin that’s conflicting with the upload. What plugins do you have?

The second is just a normal network hiccup, and if you try again, it may work.

Re the 1st error, the plugins i use are:
    About Me
    Add to Any Subscribe Button
    BackUpWordPress
    Official StatCounter Plugin
    Share This
    WPvideo

Re the 2nd one, I tried once more but it still did not work. Will try a few more times. Anything else I can do if the error continues.

    Thanks. David

If it’s still having that second error, it may be a memory issue, but that’s outside my general smartness.

What version of PHP are you using?

(I’d make a note here that WP 2.2 is VERY old, and I would suggest upgrading, if only for security features, but also for better compatibility with newer versions of flash.)
