    Hi,

I have been trying to upload an image to wordpress and I keep getting a Error 500.

    The image is:
    120 KB
    2000X 576 pixels
    72dpi
    sRGB

I have changed the pixel dimensions down to 495x142pixels and had no luck.

I spoke with my host and they couldn’t see any errors and they didn’t have the image so they couldn’t replicate the problem and therefore help me fix it.

I have read about inserting some text into .htaccess but every time I do I crash wordpress. If you recommend inserting text into .htaccess can you please provide advice on how to add information to the .htaccess file?

  • What do the error logs on the server say?

Have you tried deactivating ALL plugins ?

That post was mine! Yes I have deactivated all plugins and reverted back to the default theme. I had nothing in my error log and when I talked to with inmotionhosting.com they did not see any errors recorded either. Is there some error log I am missing that I need to check?

Yes, I know that thread was yours – wasn’t sure if you’d taken the last suggestion in the thread – and generally, it’s best to continue in the same thread so people know what has already been tried.

IF you are getting an internal server error, something is going on with the server – and there are error logs which would show more details – but your hosts would be the ones to help you with accessing the logs.

Have you tried clearing your browser cache and/or trying another browser?

What is the site in question? Are you currently using the default theme with NO plugins active? Have you reset the plugins folder by changing the name on it to plugins.HOLD – which can fully deactivate a plugin that may be still causing problems even when deactivated via the Dashboard.
