• I downloaded and installed 2.5 a couple days ago and noticed a problem with the image uploader freezing when I’m trying to upload images from my computer. See here. As a rule I turn off the visual editor, and tried uploading with it both on and off with no luck. I even upgraded to the latest beta release (3/12/08) and still can’t seem to get the images up.

I haven’t been able to find any mention of this anywhere so I’m just wondering if anyone has come up against this and how did you fix it?

  • bumping this problem,I also experience, can not upload image, and video. Also there is a problem when upgrade to 2.5 rc1.

Upgraded to RC2 today. same problem. Using FF2 and Ubuntu Linux.

Still experience same problem (RC2 Windows XP and FF2 as well)

    I see these messages:
    ———————————————————–

    HTTP error.

Dismiss An error occurred in the upload. Please try again later.

IE 7 and Windows XP used to upload images with RC1, however, I’m not able to upload any images while using the very same software after upgrade to RC2. Now I’m sad sad sad beta “tester”.

My installation shows the following issues related to posting images:
    – when I try to upload images in Firefox 2.0.0.12 and Opera 9.5 beta build 9841 I get “HTTP error”;
    – when I try to upload images from Opera 9.26 they get on the server but I cannot edit their properties or post them. I only get the “Save changes” button and a thumbnail of the image;
    – the uploaded photos via Opera 9.26 can be posted only from Firefox 2.0 or Opera 9.5 beta but only sometimes the thumbnail is created.
    – the gallery doesn’t work.

Does anyone know if the file uploader will be IE7-enabled in 2.5 final?

it didn’t’ work for me (WordPress 2.5 RC2 and Windows XP + IE7)

I get an error when its trying to compress the file. I think it could be something wrong with the ftp settings… not sure how to fix it though.

This is still broken for me in WordPress 2.5 RC3, Windows XP, IE7.

I *can* get it work in Firefox, but only because I don’t have the flash plugin installed, and it looks like WordPress then defaults to the non-flash method.

Seems to still be here for 2.5 GM.

Weird, It seems that my image uploads are being uploaded, but I can’t choose from them (or see any thumbnails) from the galleries in the flash media library and select them to be posted.

This is somewhat of a dissapointment, I hope a very swift solution will be available for this problem, or I will go back to 2.3.

(I run Vista and IE7 Downloaded the latest 2.5 version)

    Marcel.

I haven’t done the upgrade yet myself, but I got a question from a friend who is having the same problem. He says:
“I could upload my picture, but when I tried to insert it into the post I got a blank, white window.
Luckily WP lets you go through the media library, get the URL for the pic,
and let you paste that into the post. It’s more cumbersome than the old
    way.”

So based on what avinews said, this problem seems to vary depending on different things (browser? my friend is using Firefox on XP).

    So…bump.

I just installed wp 2.5 on a test database.

But same problem here. I’m using XP with Opera 9.5 and also tested IE.
The first thing: I can’t choose more then one picture.
If i start the upload i get this error message:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 9216 bytes) in /usr/export/www/hosting/******/wordpress/wp-admin/includes/image.php on line 138

I also see the pictures at the Gallery tab, but i can’t insert them to my blog…

I hope we see a fix soon ??

Well, I’m still at it.. I can upload pics, they get uploaded in the uploads folder, then in the gallery I can see the filenames including the recently uploaded files.

but when I click ‘Show’ nothing happens. Also I think there should be somekind of a thumbnail in front of the filename? (doesn’t show) and clicking the empty spot results in nothing..

Everything functions as it should, even the automated plugin updates (cool!)

But the only way to get pics into a post is by filling in the pic’s URL directly.

Why havent we heard from a more ‘official’ wordpress associate? this problem is not just a little thing is it?
