• Hey, I’m trying to get my new photography/video site up and running, so I have to upload a large number of images to the media library. The problem is the flash upload is not working, I select images, it says crunching, and seems to just hang there eternally. I’ve been slowly adding individual images with the browser uploader, which works fine… how can I solve this? Or is there an alternative method to add bulk images? Using go daddy if that helps.

    Thanks,
    Evan

  • You could upload via ftp to your server using a program like filezilla. That way you can upload all your images at once into your wordpress upload folder.

Try uploading 1 image to see if that works.

If it hangs during ‘crunching’, then it is probably encountering an error which is not been fed back to the AJAXy UI.

Usually errors are caused by plugins, or your theme.

OurWebsupport: I saw mention of that somewhere else, but it looked complicated.. I guess I’ll look into it again.

TCBarrett: As far as I know I’m running no plugins, I guess I’ll try changing back to the default theme to upload, then switching back if it works.

I changed back to the twenty eleven theme and the uploader still hangs on crunching… I’ll try to double check all plugins are off.

Unless you are pushing the boundaries, which uploading an image is not, you can be confident that WordPress works as expected. So if a fresh, stock installation is not behaving correctly, you should contact your host to find out what the error is.
