• Hello. I have a problem. I used to be with webhostingpad.com, but after more than half a year of instability and excuriciatingly slow speeds, I added hardwareinsights.com to my HostGator Reseller Account.
I moved all my files over (FTP to download, then upload to the new host), then I pointed my domain over (changed nameservers), then I imported the MySQL database tables (which I had previously exported from the other host).
Now, I thought everything was perfect. It loads quickly with no errors…and the forum (hardwareinsights.com/forum) works fine, posts work right, MUCH faster load speeds…)
Unforrunately there seems to be a problem with WordPress. On the old host, my hosting account was in a partition on the server called /home2/…apparently on HostGator, it’s on the /home/ partition. That doesn’t cause any loading problems, but it broke the image uploader. I can’t click the little image icon, (I have to right click and select open in new tab)…then it shows the thing.
However, when I try to upload an image it says this:
“myfilename.jpg” has failed to upload due to an error
Unable to create directory /home2/hardware/public_html/wp/wp-content/uploads/2011/08. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

Not good. But, in my WHM (WebHost Manager) in my reseller account, it says I’m in partition “home” so I think the problem is it’s trying to upload it to a partition that is not in this server!!!
I’ve tried the resintall button in the wordpress updates thing it did not help.
HostGator said to enable PHP 5.3 on my hosting account, that just screwed everything up so I undid it.

Basically how do I set it tp upload stuff to /home/ instead of /home2/ in wordpress? Thanks!

  • Possibly the old media settings are in effect from when the site was on the old host?

In dashboard>settings>media check to see if “Store uploads in this folder” says “wp-content/uploads” only, and not a longer file path.

Also, make sure that “Full URL path to files” is blank.

Not sure if this will solve your issue, but it’s the first place I’d check.

    Cheers
