• When uploading .jpg images using the media uploader only the full size image is added to the uploads folder. The thumb, medium and large file sizes are not created when using a 1280×959 pixel image. What makes this even more confounding is that when I use a .png version of the same image it works just fine. After a few more tries with different file sizes and image sizes it always creates the resized images when uploading a .png and fails to create them when uploading a .jpg.

Having a hard time figuring out what the problem could be with this one. I’ve followed all the usual troubleshooting tips – checking directory permissions, disabling plugins, reverting to twentyxx theme, reinstalling wordpress, etc.. – with no success. With WP_DEBUG on I get the vague error message “An error occurred in the upload. Please try again later.” I’ve made no modifications to the wordpress core running on WP3.5.1 and PHP 5.3.14 with gd and imagick enabled [don’t know which wordpress leverages].

Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
