I like USP and two of our site users have tried it too. Just today I tried uploading 21 images to create a Gallery. After the website seemed to upload all images I got a “timeout error”. when I looked in the backend only 12 images were successfully uploaded and the last one not quite so the post was not complete and would not display the Gallery. One other user experienced this two weeks ago. I am guessing I am trying to upload too much in the way of images. all 21 of my images are about 4MB each (2400 x 3600 pixels) and I have the plugin set for 4000 x 4000 image limits. But I think the site hits time limit. any suggestion?

It’s a common issue for servers to “lock down” or limit the amount of memory and resources available for uploads and other POST data. Your best bet is to ask your host for more resources, or up the limits yourself. Just make sure to do a little research before making any changes. Also this uploads troubleshooting guide may help in your efforts!

On our website we are also using WP SMUSH to smush images on upload. I have DISabled the ON UPLOAD feature and the Timeout does NOT now occur. The smushing was taking enough extra time to create the problematical Timeout Error.
So now I just go into the backend occaissionally to “BULK Smush” our images. No big deal.
