Just recently, we removed all products in our database, 1700 or so. We removed all attached images leaving approx. 30 or so images that were used by the site. We uploaded all images and used wpallimport to upload the products. For some reason, approx 200 of the images are tagged with a -1.jpg. ie 34677-1.jpg. Both the image and the image name in the csv are 34677.jpg. This has created a lot of grief. all images were gone. I understand that if there is an image with that name allready on the system, then it would do that but not from and empty media folder. Any ideas why that happened.

  • Did you clear the trash after you deleted them? If not, then the images are still, technically, on the server and available under their original name.

@tbcomputerguy The reply above is basically the answer, if the images still have any remnants as posts in the database, or if the files are on the server, they will get the -1 on the end. This is something WordPress does.
