• Recently upgraded to 3.2.1 and now when I try to add an image to a posting it opens the dialogue box fine, lets me find the photo from my computer, crunches it ok, then I select all the options I want for positioning etc but then when I click to “Insert into Post” it just returns the 404 error page and I cannot do anything other than close the dialogue box.

    Help?!?

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

Have done all of the above and it is still happening.

    Any other ideas?

Try re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

Done that and it is still doing the same thing

What “page” is it that it can’t find to bring up the 404 error page instead??

It should be reverting back to edit-post.php. Just for kicks, try another re-upload but this time, delete the wp-admin & wp-includes folders first. Don’t over-write them.

It wouldn’t let me fully delete the includes folder, said php.ini permissions wouldn’t allow it, so I’ve had to overwrite…

Would it be something to do with the server that’s causing these issues?

It’s possible, I suppose. Has it ever worked properly on this server?

Yes, all worked perfectly for about 2 years!

Contact your hosts and ask them if anything has changed on the server.
