• Hi folks,

Like others here, my image titles stopped showing up a month ago or so. I’ve been through the other responses and I don’t believe any of the same issues apply for my site (https settings, etc.). On most of my lightbox images linked above, the captions are totally absent, and on a select few, the alt file name appears for some reason. In the latter cases, there is no difference in set-up between these pictures with regard to text in the caption or alt text fields.

Everything appears up-to-date on my end and I haven’t installed any new plug-ins since the titles vanished, though I have updated some.

Might you have any suggestions that could diagnose the situation on your end?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts you might have!

    Cheers,
    Darren

Hi, can you please confirm that the attachments contain captions in your site’s Media Library, as there does not appear to be captions set for the links I tested.

    Example: Attachment in Media Library

Please let me know whether the Caption and Description fields for that attachment are filled.

    Thanks.

Thanks for your response. You are correct that my images in the Media Library are not showing any captions, but as you see in the attached image, I entered captions in the Image Details view from the WP post editor. This method worked for many months with no problem and the captions are still present in this view, as well as actually in the editor view, so I’d be interested to know what’s caused this change.

In the interim, it’s good to know that I can double-up on the captions and add them into the Media Library view. Do you have any idea why they’re not pulling from the other view?

It looks like your site is generating an older style of HTML markup for the inserted images and captions for some reason.

How are you inserting the images/captions into your posts?

Update: It looks like your currently-active theme (Hemingway) does not support WordPress’ modern HTML5 markup functionality (added in WordPress 3.6).

I’ll add support for legacy markup in a future update, but you may also want to contact the theme’s developer to request support for this functionality to allow for the best compatibility with modern browsers, improved accessibility, etc.

I’ll do that right away. Thanks very much for your attention and your suggestions – and, of course, for the great plugin!

    Cheers,
