Image Title Tag doesn’t work

  • Hi there,

    I am using:

    – WP Astra Theme – free version
    – Elementor
    – The plugin “Folders” in the gallery (don’t know if this matters)

    I am setting a title tag for every picture on my webpage. But if I am analysing the source code, the titles are not there. Also when I’m hovering with the mouse over an image -> no title.

    But there is another thing: Once I am linking the image (for example to himself), it shows the title tag. But it’s stupid to fill in a dummy link to its own image only for showing the title.

    Does anybody know a solution for that?

    You will find the difference on my website -> both images have a title, but only the second image is linked. So only the second image shows the title.

    Please correct me if I am wrong, however, I think it is how it works. The title will appear on hover only if the image has a link.

    Actually, the title belongs to the link, not the image. Refer to this screenshot, please. We can see that the title tag is “inside” the a tag not the img tag.

    Further, you can check by temporarily switching the theme to the default Twenty theme series and see how it works. The same behavior should happen also on the default theme.

    This is not working. Title for image tag is a separate indicator and is meant to be a long description of the image while an ALT tag is meant to be a short description.

    This is an SEO problem. Noticing its been overlooked for seemingly years…why?
    Title and ALT have distinct purposes and neither is going to be deprecated. What is Astra a doing????

    Is there a real work around?

    In the meantime, please try the same scenario with a default WordPress theme and see the behavior.
