    Hi,
This is maybe a silly questions but I haven’t been able to figure it out. I bulk edited some already uploaded images to give them the same alt text and title, but when I insert them into the post, image title disappears. Image title displays correctly on the image attachment page. Any advise?

Thanks for your question (there are no silly questions).

You wrote about updates to “alt text and title” and observed that “image title disappears“. You do not mention the Caption field.

When you insert an image into a post/page WordPress looks in the Caption field, not the Title field, to add some text below the image. If you go back and look at the Caption field in your images, is it empty? If so, try a bulk edit to fill it with the text you want to see.

On the image attachment page, the Title is displayed at the top of the page and the Caption is displayed under the image itself.

I hope that gets you the results you need. I am marking this topic resolved, but please update it if I have not understood the question or if you have problems or further questions about the above suggestions. Thanks for your interest in the plugin.

Hi David and thank you for your reply.

Sorry, I think I didn’t make myself clear (English is not my first language). By “image title” I meant the Title attribute of the image. I attached 2 screenshots to illustrate the issue. In screenshot 1, I insert Title, Descriprion and ALT Text using MLA (I click “update”, of course). Then I insert the same image into a post and the Title attribute isn’t there (screenshot 2).

    Thanks for your help

Thanks for your update and especially for the screen shots; very helpful. Your English is fine – much better than my Italian!

It looks like you are using the “Add Media” button in the post/page editor to display the Media Manager Modal (popup) Window, and the screenshot shows the bottom portion of the ATTACHMENT DETAILS pane at the right-hand side of the popup window. Is that right?

If so, the “Advanced options” (opzioni avanzte) section, “Title attribute of the image” (attributo title dell’immagine), and the “Modal image” control may be coming from your theme or another plugin – I do not have any of those displayed by my test system. Can you tell me if that is possible?

For example, the “Classe CSS dell’immagine” is not a normal WordPress element, but I can imagine it is created and managed by a lightbox, gallery or image management plugin. It is possible that the “attributo title dell’immagine” is a separate field, not the WordPress Title field, and so is not available to the MLA editing feature.

Thanks for any additional information you can provide.

Thanks for pointing that out. Actually, that screenshot is from the popup I get from clicking the little pencil icon:
    edit image
    Here’s a larger image:
    null
I edit the image with MLA and insert it into the post by clicking the “Add Media” button, but if I don’t manually insert a Title in the “Title attribute of the image” (attributo title dell’immagine) field, the image won’t have a title like this:
    null

Oh, and I’m not using any image editing plugins other that MLA, so maybe those extra fields are coming from the theme.

Thank you for taking the time to post an update with more details and additional screenshots. All of the features you are using are part of WordPress, not the theme or a plugin. I do not often use the “Visual” mode of the post/page editor so I did not recognize the WordPress “Image Details” popup window as the source of your screenshots.

The problem you are having is because WordPress is changing the way it uses the title attribute. In fact, WordPress is removing this attribute from the HTML it generates for inserted images. You can find more information in this recent WordPress blog post:

Tag Cloud widget changes in 4.8

The “Image Details” popup window can only access the values already present in the < IMG > tag in the text of the post/page. It does not go back to the Media Library for additional values. This makes sense since the image could come from anywhere, not just the Media Library. Because WordPress does not populate the title attribute when the image is inserted, the value is blank.

I regret the news is not better, but I do not see any way that MLA can help. I am leaving this topic resolved because MLA is working properly, but please update it if you have any further questions about the explanation I have provided. Thanks for your understanding and interest in MLA.

Thank you for the explanation, it’s all clear now.
