• Hello Multisite users

I’m trying to put a border round an image, but the full functionality of the Block > Image Editor is not showing. I should have the option to add borders, control their thickness, and so on, like this.

    2024-11-07 (3).png

But instead, all I get is the choice of square or rounded edges, and nothing else. Like this:

    2024-11-07 (4).png

I suppose there may be two reasons for this: either (1) it’s because the image is inside a column block and it’s reducing the functionality (tho it doesn’t work outside the column block either); or (2) it’s because this is one site of a multisite and perhaps all the permissions are not enabled.

Can anyone point me to an answer, please?

    I don’t think it’s either of these.

I think it’s just the theme.

If you look closely at the two images, the “bad” one is missing the separate “Settings” and “Styles” tabs: it only has the “Settings” section. It seems this has something to do with the Site Editor available only for block themes — which the GeneratePress theme you’re using is not.

You can confirm this by temporarily switching to any block theme: without making any other changes, you should now see the side-by-side “Settings” and “Styles” tabs in the Image block’s sidebar options, with your missing feature in the “Styles” tab.

Thanks, George. Good of you to reply. Just quickly, this classic vs block themes is a bit of a mystery to me. Do you recommend moving to a block theme or staying with a classic theme like GeneratePress? Do classic themes have any advantages?
