Image Slider posts wont display

  • I’m trying to build a new site from a custom theme template files that I have inherited (not built by myself – cannot contact original theme developer).

    The website I’m working on is:

    The website where the original theme is from:
    https://www.dukeofedinburghhotel.com.au/

    I have access to both sites.

    My issue is with the image slider. On the original site I am able to edit, remove, replace the slider images by:
    adding new posts, adding a featured image, assigning them a category (which is then referenced in the page template).
    When trying to replicate this process with the new site, I keep getting black sliders and “Sorry, no posts match your criteria”.

    I’m very new to wordpress so any help on how to rectify this would be greatly appreciated!

    is the slider custom coded or from a plugin?

    As far as I can tell it’s custom.

    I assume you meant that you assigned the posts to the category?

    There may also be an initial level of activation required within the the slider settings, or the way the first image or first post is configured.

    Yes, apologies. I assigned the posts to the category.

    Any pointers on where I should be looking to to activate the slider? As I said, the only place I can find traces of it are in the style sheet, and of course references to it in the page templates.
    Also, I’m not sure what you mean by how the first post is configured?

    There are differences between each slider so you will have to do a search through all your menu settings.

    Also have a look at the previous site. Is there a way to export its settings? If so that might be a way to get you started. Does that slider use an auxiliary plugin?

    If you cannot get it going you might consider another slider from the plugins repository.

    I cant seem to find anywhere where it’s settings are located. I can see it’s referenced as ‘slider’ in those instances where I can find it, but other than that I’m not too sure what I should be looking for.

    I really liked the way this one worked, and the original intention when exporting the files from the original site was to hopefully export all settings with it. But I guess something got missed along the way!
    I think I may have to look for another solution for my slider as you suggested.
