A website typically will use same default settings for various blocks so as to present a uniform look and style across. One way to store default settings is to store blocks as reusable blocks. However, this may not work in many cases. A typical example is Image Slider. When saved as a reusable block, it retains latest images. When one uses the block next time, it reproduces the last saved images. In fact it should present a blank image selection as it is unlikely that the previous set of images will be used in the new slider too. Not only that it updates the images in all the previous sliders where the reusable blocks was used, with the last saved set of images.

Pl. examine if it is a bug. If not there has to be another way to save default settings for blocks so that one does not have to repeatedly modify all the settings when creating a new post/page.

    Hi there!

Reusable Blocks feature saves all the block settings, including media used in the block. It appears to be correct behavior, that Image Slider block has images saved when adding the block to Reusable.
You may easily click “Edit” button for the block you would add next time and replace saved images. In fact, this takes as much time, as adding new images would take, in case blank slider with no images would be saved to Reusable. So, I believe this is not a bug.
If you believe this should not be like this, kindly provide other example blocks, where it would make sense to not save some specific settings, when adding block to Reusable.

    Regards,

The reusable block can be used in two manners –
    1. To save repeat content, as in cases where you want the same content to be repeated, say at the end of each post.
    2. To save the settings of the block i.e. as a Template. This is to ensure a uniformity of style across the website.

IMO, the best way will be to ask at the time of saving the reusable block whether it will be settings only or content+settings. It should probably also ask and store a setting to check if on reuse, the reusable block should be converted into a regular block.

This would allow for both kind of uses, as mentioned at 1 & 2 above.

    Hi @dhatul,
Thank you for your reply. The description of the Reusable block says the following:

    Reusable Block
Create content, and save it for you and other contributors to reuse across your site. Update the block, and the changes apply everywhere it’s used.

This is a tool of WordPress Block editor and not the one added by Getwid and this is how it works. So you edit a Reusable Block and not individual Slider.
We understand what you mean and wish to get will keep your request in mind to save some predefined templates with preset settings to use it further on the site and edit each block individually and not across whole website.

    Hi Dimitar,

I agree that it is a wordpress block editor limitation. Hope the community can endorse this requirement so that such a functionality can be part of the Block Editor itself.

    Hi @dhatul,
I agree it would be definitely a great enhancement. Thanks for using Getwid plugin ??
