Image sizing problem

I’m using version 1.0.0.8 to tryout first before I buy.

My images are sized to 300px high by 400px wide. I set the height to 300 in the Slider Options. When I view the images on the page they are enlarge and part of the image is cropped. Do I have a setting somewhere wrong or is this the way it is?
