Please post the exact URL of page or post on your site where you are having the issue and also try to wrap the slider shortcode in the a div tag with fixed width ex is below.

    <div style="width: 500px !important">[slider id="YOUR SLIDER ID"]</div>

I thought this slider was responsive; so why am I having to define the height and width of the images and slider?

The default slider skin with the plugin is responsive and I’m also using it on my own site you can checkout that here

I’m afraid it’s a theme compatibility issue on your site and I’m sorry I might not able to help you in resolving the issue.

Is there a way to tell it to resize pictures to fit the size of the slider area you want (and have a background to fill the space, if some pictures are landscaped and some are portrait orientation), without having to go into the image library and resize every picture?

    Thanks

When you add slides and then images into them it’s up to you which size you choose. From the slider options you can set the width and height of the slider but the default skin is responsive and it’ll try to fit any size of image into the frame so what you are trying to achieve might not be possible with the plugin without modifying the skin which you can if you have css knowledge to suit your needs.

    images doesn’t show up
The images are all the same size. Tried to define it both as responsive and as fixed as per the images sizes. It doesn’t work either ways. The shortcode is inserted in the home page.
