I just realised lately, feed pulls high-res image only. Each image is around 400-200kb, so 16-18 feeds end up added extra 5-6MB on my page size; every page. Which totally not cool for my site performance.

I try imageres=thumb or imageres=auto, but doesn’t make any difference. I don’t know when it started (it defo worked for a long while).

Also there is another minor issue, seem image doesn’t show in the first load(blank) but it works on the second load. Could someone help please?

    Hey @ke_house,

Thank you for reaching out to us for assistance. Instagram only provides a few specific sizes of images for us to retrieve. However, you can easily optimize the images if you make sure our plugin uses a locally saved copy. First, make sure you are using the latest version of the plugin, 2.6.2. Then, under Instagram Feed > Customize > make sure Favor Local Images is enabled as well as the Permanent Cache. You will also on the main configuration page set the Check for new posts to be in the Background.

I can currently see a few issues on the site due to optimization plugins. If you still have issues, I suggest creating exceptions for our plugin scripts and/or CSS under /instagram-feed/js/ and /instagram-feed/css/.

Once the plugin is correctly serving locally saved images, these can then be optimized as well by any image optimization plugin should you so choose.

If you have further issues, please send us a support request on our website here, including the System Info from the Support tab of the plugin.

    Many thanks.
