After reading about the blurry thumbnails syndrome re final tiles images, I’m led to believe the key is adjusting the image size factor setting. Mine isn’t there (pro version). Apparantly it should be under settings, there is a menu where you can jump to various settings but when you click on image size factor nothing happens and its not visible. Anyone else experienced this?

    Hi,

to fix blurry images you have 2 solutions based on the layout you’re using:

    Final Tiles layout:
you should use a lower image size factor or use a larger image size.

    Masonry layout:
simply choose a larger image size.

Image size factor is not visible when you have the Masonry layout, because the size of the rendered images is forced by the width of the column. With masonry layout the size of the images is controlled by the layout. As opposite, with Final Tiles layout, the layout is controlled by the size of the images.

I understand it’s not super-easy reaching the exact result when you want a complex layout (with Final Tiles layout) but once you understand how it works you see how powerful its algorithm is.

You can see a tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNT4JGjtyrs&t=5s
and documentation about the algorithm (from page 7): https://issuu.com/greentreelabs/docs/finaltilesgridgallery-documentation

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Basically I’m using the masonry layout as I want all same size, but even with smaller thumbnails and 4 columns (https://markhaywoodart.com/mark-robert-haywood/) the thumbnail images are still blurry – ideally I wanted the thumbs larger but they are more blurry when larger. Is there anything that can be done to adjust these in masonry layout? Ive scoured several forums but most seem to focus on the tiles layout. Thank you for any info much appreciated.

    Hi Mark,

on my display images are rendered 219×219 but the real size is 150×150 so it’s normal they’re blurry.

Using a size larger than 150×150 should not produce blurry images (this is how all galleries work, they use larger sizes than the rendered sizes).

Could you please change the size of a couple of images with a larger size so I can see the difference?

    Hi,

Got it. I was changing the image size of the thumbs as opposed to the size of the actual images. Have it sorted now and changed it, they are not appearing blurry. Thanks for your help – would have took me ages figuring out that!!

    Best,

    No problem Mark,

I’ll add a sticky post so it will be easier next time for other users.

Would you mind to rate the plugin if you have not yet done? I’d really appreciate it!
