    Hi,
I am starting a subsite in a multi site install with your amazing theme.
You say as general rule 1600x 1600 pc. Which other ratios and sizes the theme uses?
Feature image size and ratio for post of one column, and two columns?
I resize and compress images before upload. It will great help to have this information.
    Thanks in advance

  • Hi, WordPress creates smaller versions of your image, for example, the medium, medium-large and large. The posts output will use those smaller sizes in the output. You can even control which one this through the customizer settings.

That is why your images should be at least 1600 x 1600 or larger 2400×2400 because the smaller sizes will be created and then you have options long term if you ever need the image for another purpose on your site.

    Sorry but I am lost.

My images for this new site are 2:3 ratio (2000×3008 px). This use to be the standard digital Nikon format. However is not the standard for the web now.

The preferred ratios by Google for video or images are 16:9, 4:3, 1:1.
And most recently 16:9 and 1:1 vertical.

I understand that the theme creates different sizes. I understand that bigger images is better to be prepared. However your advice would be much appreciate, because I don’t want to redo all images in a few month.

I can change this 2:3 ratio, but I must know what should be the preferred option.
    Thanks for your patient.

    Hey,

I understand that the theme creates different sizes.

Just a point of clarification, the theme doesn’t create different sizes, WordPress core does.

By saying a minimum of 1600×1600 or 2400×2400 I’m not saying square images. I’m saying at least that size. Let’s phase it this way.

Make sure the smallest dimension is at least 1600px.

The ratio can be whatever you like or want o your site. The important part is a minimum size.

    Does that help?
