    Hello,

I building an online store. I have few queries related to page load time and size.

    1) Does the number of products in the complete site have an impact on page load time or only the page that is opened has an impact.

    2) I am planning to add a minimum of 500 sub pages displaying portfolio. Does that many pages make my website or page load tie slow ?

    3) Please let me know what can be image size (in KB) of a product if i had to list 20 products per page. I am concerned about the quality of the image as well as the page load time. What can be the image size and thumbnail size if I had to have considerable quality with somewhat good page load size.

My site is https://8cross8.com which is still under construction. Any help would be appreciated !!

    Regards,
    Muthu.

  • 1. they will only effect the load time on the page which their displayed, but it will be very insignificant. Especially since no page will have to load all of your shop items at the same time.

    2. This shouldn’t cause issues. There shouldn’t be a time when your site has to load all of those pages simultaneously, so I think you’ll be fine there.

    3. Image sizes in the demo site vary in size, but none exceed 600kb. You can use this site to compress your images.

The Theme Developer actually just released a very informative write up on optimizing your site’s speed. I highly recommend reading through it. You’ll definitely learn a lot from it!
