Image short url not working

I’m trying to set up a site on documentary-films.tv/wordpress. All the theme code was done on my computer using MAMP as a local server, and everything is fine there, but as you can see, the images aren’t showing up. (it’s just got the homepage and /about page right now)

They are in a “images” folder on the root level and being referenced as such: “/images/home/HP-LAworking.jpg”. If you go to https://documentary-films.tv/wordpress/images/home/HP-LAworking.jpg, you will see the image, so I know it’s there, and if I put the full url in css it will show- but obviously, that’s not what I want to do –I put the wordpress install on a public_html/wordpress/ since I need the old site to be up while I build the site and I intend to mover it to the root level once I do.

Can this be because the wordpress files are not in the root public_html folder that short url is not referencing the correct file?
